Hello & welcome to Scottish House Portraits
 

Maurice is privileged to have come from an artistic family.

His earliest memory as a toddler, is watching his grandfather

painting in oils in his attic studio. He was the well known

Aberdeenshire landscape artist George Melvin Rennie whose

work included commissions for the royal family at Balmoral

Castle.
 

The artist lives with his wife Helen in the lovely village of

Ratho on the west side of Edinburgh, near the Union Canal,

where they enjoy inspiring views of the rolling Pentland Hills

and cattle grazing peacefully amongst the trees. The couple

previously owned craft shops selling pottery, leatherwork,

jewellery, pine furniture, prints, paintings, etc.
 

Maurice has a background in house design and renovation,

hence his interest in painting beautiful homes, harbours and

other buildings of character.
 

The aim of the artist is to capture the unique character &

atmosphere of your home or business premises, and provide

an original watercolour painting that will give great pleasure

and happy memories for many years to come.
